As your professional maintenance manager, Savvy provides you with expert guidance and representation in your relationship with service centers and other maintenance providers. Our job is to ensure that your aircraft is maintained to the highest level of safety and dispatch reliability, while reducing your maintenance cost by declining maintenance that is not worth doing because it offers no meaningful safety or reliability benefit.
As a Savvy client, you'll enjoy peace of mind and relief from the usual stress and hassles when maintenance issues arise with your aircraft. You'll find this particularly valuable when you're away from home base and dealing with unknown mechanics and service centers.
We do all this for a modest fixed annual fee. We generally save our clients far more in reduced parts and labor charges than the amount of our management fee. We feel confident that you'll find that Savvy's professional management won't cost you money, it'll save you money.
As part of Savvy's basic fixed-fee service, we will:
- Assist you in selecting the best service centers and maintenance technicians for each job, and help you to steer clear of the not-so-good ones. Because we work with hundreds of maintenance facilities throughout the U.S., we're in a unique position to advise you in this regard.
- Help arrange transportation for you or your aircraft to and from the maintenance location (if necessary). We also arrange for ferry permits and off-site repairs should the need arise.
- Obtain written estimates for each maintenance task, ensure that they are reasonable and appropriate, and obtain your written approval before authorizing the work. This three-phase protocol (estimate-approve-repair) ensures that you are always in control, remain "in the loop" throughout, and avoid unpleasant surprises when the invoice arrives. (We just HATE surprises...and we bet you do, too.)
- Give specific written direction to the service centers and maintenance technicians doing the work. We insist on doing everything in writing to eliminate the possibility of miscommunication and ensure that the work performed is precisely what you approved, nothing more and nothing less.
- Advise you which maintenance tasks are important, and which ones are not worth doing (or can prudently be deferred). By making sure that your service center only performs the work that really matters, and by helping you decide when to "just say no," we can often cut your maintenance costs dramatically with no sacrifice in safety or dispatch reliability.
- Ensure that your maintenance is performed "on condition" wherever possible, instead of on some arbitrary timetable. We will implement a state-of-the-art conditioni-monitoring program for your aircraft, including regular borescope inspections, spectrographic oil analysis, and digital engine monitor data analysis (among other things) to ensure that mechanical problems will be detected and dealt with early before they get serious.
- Save you money on costly replacement parts by recommending lower-cost alternatives to the high-priced spread. These include repair rather than replacement, use of lower-cost PMA equivalents, salvage yard parts, obtaining new parts at discount, and so forth.
- Perform systematic troubleshooting to ensure a correct diagnosis before authorizing repairs or parts replacement. This goes a long way to ensure that the problem is fixed right the first time, and to eliminate repeat visits, extended downtime, and unnecessary cost.
What we DON'T do...
Savvy does not manage multiengine turbines, large aircraft over 12,500 lbs. MGTOW, homebuilts, kitplanes, experimentals, warbirds, antiques, flight school, flying club, leaseback or Part 135 aircraft. We also do not manage aircraft registered in any country other than the United States (although we do provide consulting to owners of non-US-registered aircraft, and we do manage N-registered aircraft that are based overseas).
Next: How we do it.
